Apparently recent sales in the US of personal computer electronics have taken quite a slump. The only categories to perform well and actually grow in YTD results are tablet and mobile phone sales.

Now if Apple is the first brand you think of when you consider tablet and mobile phone devices then just like us you'd have to conclude that Apple is holding up US personal computer and electronics sales. 

Meanwhile Apple stocks are surging in anticipation of the next iPad release. In addition to this there is also speculation Apple may pay shareholders a dividend which is somewhat uncharacteristic of the company. 

Numerous 'iPad 3' design leaks are hitting blogs everywhere reporting back that the only physical difference will be a gigantic 1mm of extra thickness. Yes, this does mean you can update your iPad sometime in March and it's likely your girlfriend won't have a clue. Great news!
