Will iPad Cases Work for iPad 2

Posted August 02 2011

If you’ve got an iPad, you need an iPad case.  These iPad accessories are definitely on the must-have list so you don’t end up damaging your tablet beyond repair while it is in transport.  There are a lot of options when it comes to iPad 2 cases.  However, for all of those people who already have original iPad cases, this is just one more annoying iPad accessory update.

The issue with trying to use iPad cases for the iPad 2 is that the newer tablet has a different shape and size.  It is much thinner and has edges which are more tapered.  Any sort of iPad case which was made to be form fitting isn’t going to work at all for the iPad 2.  Even if you do manage to get your iPad 2 into the case, it will probably wobble around a bit and you won’t get optimal protection.

However, if your original iPad case wasn’t form-fitting, such as sleeve or zipper iPad cases, then you can use it without a problem for the iPad 2.  Carrying case iPad accessories are also universal for the two different Apple tablets.

iPad 2 cases aren’t really that expensive, even to get a good quality and stylish one.  Most of the decent cheap iPad 2 cases start at about $30.  Even though you don’t want to spend more cash on iPad accessories after shelling out around $600 for your tablet, you should definitely consider getting a new case.  The form-fitting iPad 2 cases can do wonders for protecting your tablet during transport.  There are also some really cool ones specifically for iPad 2 which incorporate other iPad accessories into them, like keyboards or functional stands.
