Tips for Maintaining iPad 2 Battery Life
Posted July 29 2011The iPad 2 is great because
its battery lasts a very impressive 10 hours.
What you might not have seen in the fine print though is that this is
only for new batteries. Tablet
batteries, by far the most crucial of iPad accessories, will gradually lose its
ability to carry power. That means your
iPad battery will eventually have a shorter and shorter lifespan.
There are some ways to keep
your iPad accessories healthy though.
First of all, you know how your iPad 2 instructions tell you to
completely charge the battery before you use the tablet? You MUST do this! Don’t get so excited about your new iPad 2
that you don’t bother with the full iPad charger time. You will also need to regularly cycle your
iPad 2 battery to make sure it is staying healthy. This means you should let your iPad battery
completely drain. Then put it on the
iPad charger until it is 100% full – not just to 80 or 90 percent.
You can also help save your iPad battery by taking it out of your tablet when it is not in use. Even when your iPad 2 is in sleep mode, it is still draining the battery. Also, if you are running on your iPad 2 charger, you should take out the iPad battery. As a general rule, only work on your tablet with either the iPad charger or the iPad battery, not both of them at once.
It is a really good idea to invest in a second iPad battery. The iPad 2 External Battery is also a great option. These iPad 2 accessories help maintain your batteries and provide you will longer battery time so you can work for up to 10 hours instead of increasingly lesser time frames. Another tip is to use your second iPad battery while regularly cycling your original iPad 2 battery.
