Best Way to Charge an iPad

Posted July 29 2011

One of the coolest features about the iPad 2 is that it has a powerful battery which can last up to 10 hours even when you are watching video on your tablet.  The downside to having such a long-lasting tablet battery is that you will need to spend a lot of time in order to charge your iPad.  There are a lot of different iPad 2 charger options but not all of them are so great.

The USB iPad 2 charger got Apple a lot of attention when their new tablet was released.  This method makes it really easy and convenient to charge your tablet at work or even in the car if you have a USB port there.  However, there are some major issues with the USB iPad 2 charger.  In order to charge your iPad with USB, you will need to have a USB port which is at least 10W.  Even many newer PCs and laptops don’t have a 10W USB. So, if you want to use the USB iPad 2 charger, you will need a new computer!  There are some other issues with the USB iPad charger too.  Some users were unable to charge while their iPad was awake.  Also, your computer which is doing the charging will need to be awake.  USB is also the slowest method of charging your iPad 2.

If you don’t want to rely on your standard iPad charger, then you should invest in getting an iPad battery pack.  These packs for iPad 2 usually will plug into the tablet’s 30-pin docking connection.  Then, the energy from the battery pack will be passed over to y our iPad.  If you must have power, then these iPad accessories are a must.
