A lot of people get so excited when they go to buy their iPad 2 that they instantly pick up all the iPad accessories.  Of the many iPad 2 accessories, the case is probably the most important – unless you want to destroy your tablet within the first few weeks of use!  The Apple Smart Cover has gotten a lot of positive press but you may want to think again before you buy it.  There are a lot of other really great iPad cases which may be better for you.  Here are some of the things you should consider before you buy. 

1. What Else Does the iPad Case Do?

There are already so many different types of iPad 2 cases.  These are no longer just protective covers but also full-fledged iPad accessories all in one package.  Some of the iPad cases are also chargers, like the cool Voltaic solar iPad charger.  Almost all of the iPad 2 cases will also fold in various ways so you can prop up your tablet and turn it into a laptop with a Bluetooth keyboard.  There are even several iPad cases which have the Bluetooth keyboard built it!

2. Protection

Yes, the entire reason for buying iPad cases is protection.  Unless you want to be very, very careful with your tablet, consider getting an iPad 2 case which covers your entire iPad, not just one side.  Also, consider waterproof iPad cases.
